Why We Built This Site
Nevada gives the public broad access to court records under the Nevada Public Records Act. The hard part is figuring out which office holds the file you want. The Second Judicial District Court at 75 Court Street in Reno handles felony, family, civil over $15,000, and probate cases. The Reno and Sparks Justice Courts handle misdemeanors, traffic, evictions, and small claims. The Washoe County Clerk issues marriage licenses and runs Board of County Commissioners records. The Recorder holds proof-of-marriage certificates, deeds, and recorded liens. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Darin Balaam, manages the Detention Facility roster and active warrants. Add the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Department of Corrections, and the picture gets crowded fast. What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Nevada court, the Second Judicial District, a Washoe County office, the Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney under Christopher Hicks, the Public Defender under Evelyn Grosenick, or any state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot file paperwork or send records requests on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any court document or vital record
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific case applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or address listed on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or Washoe County office can provide a certified copy with an official seal. We can point you to the right office, but the document has to come from them.
